Sawadee!

Sawadee!

Have safely arrived in Ubon Ratchathani.

To back up a bit, on Saturday, 1 December, we landed at Bangkok’s Suvarnabumi Airport about 0125 am. Our flights went well—some 18 hours total flying time.

We stayed a few hours at The Ambassador Hotel on Sukhumvit Road Soi 11. Chosen mostly because it was close to the airport (30-40 minutes by taxi), and close to our niece, Montira and Philip. We had a very nice and very quick visit with them—more to follow.

Air Asia Flt 3320 from Bangkok to Ubon was fine—an older model 737 configured for 3/3 seating. Yikes! Thank goodness, no pictures of Ken sitting in the window seat (the most "compact").

Upon arrival in Ubon, we were met with Newt’s sisters Sue, Lawan, Noi, and sister-in-law Teng, and Sue’s daughter Montien (“Cook”) and her friend Tee. Later, we were joined by Lawan’s son Putapong and daughter Kung. We had a wonderful dinner. We will upload pictures later.

Today, we may do some shopping and sightseeing.

Our internet connection has variable quality. But, we will keep in touch as we’re able. For now, we’re enjoying the sights and sounds (sometimes the smells) of Ubon.
